I bought this product sometime this winter. I am trying to figure out why I wanted to switch from my Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless foundation but, all I know is that I wanted a more high end foundation for oily skin. The one Youtuber I follow was reviewing her favorite high end foundations and she said BECCA Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation was her absolute favorite. So, I thought I’ll give it a try!
One day after work, I visited my local Sephora and was trying to skin match. The girl at Sephora used that thingy to match my skin tone and it said I was “Amber”. When I swatched the color it looked more darker than my actual skin tone and I honestly thought “this is more like my summer color…but, oh well it blends really well so maybe its the lighting” Normally, I would never buy a foundation unless I tested it out first with a sample. Four things I look for: 1. Does it break me out? 2. Color must match in natural sunlight 3. Does it look cakey, blotchy or separate? 4. Staying power, how long does the foundation last with a primer?
Initially, while swatching it in the store it looked promising. I liked the texture, blend-ability seemed nice and it appeared more natural. So, the girl was trying to sucker me into buying the BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfecter so I decided to try the travel size.
The next day, I applied the primer and the foundation together. The primer is awesome! It blurred my pores and gave me a great base to apply my makeup. I wasn’t expecting it to dry as fast as it did! Then I applied the foundation. I just felt….eh.
I wasn’t wowed. I could tell the foundation was a shade too dark. But, it did blend well into the skin. So, I went on with my day. The foundation did have long lasting power and it didn’t appear to transfer – which was a huge plus! But, I found that the primer is too “oil zappy” for me in the winter…that made no sense! But, the primer dried out my skin and I think this primer would be PERFECTION during the summer months. I think I just didn’t like the look of the foundation itself. I felt like I had makeup on…and that is not what I want. I tried the foundation multiple times with different primers and I still felt the same – eh.
All in all, I learned my lesson to not buy a full foundation before a trial run.
I will be buying the full bottle of the primer though! That stuff is awesome.
So, the search continues.
